POSITION: PRINCIPAL ENGINEER
Location: Sunnyvale, CA
- eGain is looking for a key Principal Engineer who delights in making a difference and would thrive working on cutting edge Cloud initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Work with product management and other key stakeholders in developing requirements and design specifications
- Hands on design, programming, and documentation of software products designed for robustness, scalability, testability, and serviceability
- Evaluate, recommend, and drive adoption and integration of appropriate technologies and best practices to enable rapid prototyping and development of products. Recommend build versus buy decisions based on business drivers
- Develop proof-of-concept projects to validate new architectures and solutions
- Refactor and re-architect the existing products
- Coach, guide, and oversee engineers on various projects. Review design and code for adherence to guidelines with written comments for improvements
- Collaborate with other technical leaders around the company to establish company-wide guidelines, best practices, and development paradigms
Requirements
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related fields
- 10 to 15 years of hand-on software development experience. Must have solid hands-on programming/coding skills
- At least 5 years of experience in design and writing code for enterprise applications (scalable, reliable, available, distributed) in JAVA/J2EE
- Experience with web technologies like JavaScript, HTML, CSS, AJAX
- Good knowledge of database concepts and databases such as MSSQL and Oracle
- Ability to develop quick proof of concepts and prototypes
- Ability to work on multiple projects and be able to change direction quickly based on business drivers
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; strong presentation skills
- Must be able to work effectively and collaboratively with local and remote team members
